High speed chase ends in multiple charges for two Six Nations individuals

Six Nations Police have laid multiple charges against two individuals after a high speed chase ended in a farm field on 1st Line last Tuesday, November 17.

In the early afternoon, Police noticed a grey Chevrolet truck traveling on Seneca Road at a high rate of speed. Believing the truck to be stolen, police pursued the vehicle and attempted to stop it on 1st Line. The driver refused and quickly fled, driving through several farm fields in the area.

Eventually the driver stopped, and he and a woman fled on foot. The male driver was seen to be carrying something as he fled. After pursuing the pair on foot, police arrested the pair in a swampy area.

While searching the area where the truck had been left, police located and seized a loaded sawed off Winchester shotgun and ammunition. Also found at the scene was a bag of tools commonly used for break and enters and a black revolver style BB gun.

The truck itself was reportedly stolen from Haldimand County on November 16.

Police have charged De Gae Hodo Owen Hill (31 years old) with: Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited; Fail to Comply Recognizance x 4; Breach Prohibition Order x 1; Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Flight from Police; Drive while Disqualified; Mischief Under x 2; Possession of Burglary Tools; Possession Over $5000.00; Possession Under $5000.00; Careless Storage of a Firearm; Careless Storage of Ammunition; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Prohibited Weapon in a Motor Vehicle.

Police have also charged Joleen Squire-Hill (25 years old) with: Possession of Burglary Tools; Possession Over $5000.00; Possession Under $5000.00; Careless Storage of a Firearm; Careless Storage of Ammunition; Possession of a Prohibited Firearm; Prohibited weapon in motor vehicle and Fail to Comply with a Recognizance.

The two were held in custody for a formal bail hearing.
