Language Commission to receive Trillium funds

Six Nations – The Six Nations Language Commission has requested that Six Nations Elected Council accept a one-time payment of fifteen thousand dollars on behalf of the Trillium Foundation which will go towards a language program at Crawford Lake located near Burlington. The Language Commission, which is unable to accept payments directly, made the request to Band Council last week to accept the payment for them.

The funds will be used to teach Haudenosaunee language to Ongwehoweh families in what one band councilor described as a retreat at Crawford Lake at an upcoming gathering.

According to the Crawford Lake Conservation Authority website, Crawford Lake contains a re-stored 15th Century Haudenosaunee village including several longhouses, which is located west of Mississauga, Ontario.
