Man missing almost a year, still no answers

AKWESASNE – Timothy Benedict-Leaf, 19, was last seen at his mother’s house on Cornwall Island almost one year ago and no one has seen or heard from him since.

Timothy’s mom Tina, has been working with the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) over the past year, passing along any information of his possible whereabouts which have taken the police investigation as far west as Toronto. But nothing, all leads were a dead end. It was as though Timothy had just disappeared.

But people don’t just disappear. Someone out there knows something and Tina is asking anyone who may know where her son is, to please come forward with information. At this point, Tina said, “any information would be greatly appreciated.”

The pain of not knowing where Timothy is has been excruciating for the Benedict and Leaf families. Tina told theTwo Row Times, “I want my son to come home safe. We pray every night and we hurt every day. We miss him so much and we just want him to come home.”

The AMPS have been keeping the Benedict family up to date. Even though there have been no recent developments in the case, according to Timothy’s mom, the police are still actively investigating.

In a press release issued by AMPS back in December, Timothy Benedict-Leaf is described as a First Nations male, 19 years old at the time of his disappearance, 5’4”, 125-135 lbs, long dark hair that goes past his shoulders and has a medium complexion. He was last seen at the home of his mother on Cornwall Island on February 1, 2013.

Anyone with information is asked to call Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service at 613-575-2340. You can also stay anonymous if you wish and contact Crime Stoppers at 613-575-2255.
