After a lengthy battle with muscular dystrophy, with broken hearts the family announce the passing of John Thomas in his 70th year peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday July 23, 2014. Beloved husband of 46 years to Alva (Skye). Loving father of Sherri, and grandpa dad of Timarah and Tressa. Son of the late Jacob and Doris Thomas. Brother of Betty (late Alvie), Jake (Dale), Dave (Marsha), Janis, Clarence (Peggy), Karen (Johnny), Dorothy (Butch), Gene (Sue), Darvis and Donna, all of Ohsweken. With his family at his side Len went to sing his bluegrass music in heaven on the 27th of June, 2014. He waits on the other side for his best friend and much loved wife Norma (General-Lickers). His cherished and loved children Karen (Late Les Porter-Hill), and Tammy (Clayton). Special Dad to Tracey, Torrey (Renee), Dianna (Eric), David (Crystal). His grandchildren Jason (Riki), Les, Clayton Jr., Karalyn, Autumn, Melissa, Stefanie, Samantha, Mark Jr., Arlie, Ira, Jace, Dakota, Chavonne, Desirae, Delaney, Jasmine, Dallas, Allissa, Miranda, Bronson and several great grand children. He leaves behind brother Vincent (Lue) Lickers and sister Deanna (Jack) McNaughton. Sisters and brothers-in-laws Doris Lickers, Twila Lickers, Jean and Les Carpenter, Maynard General, and Pat Monture. Leonard will be missed by several nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and many bluegrass friends, especially Wally, Jim, Orie, Terry and coffee friends at Two Arrows Restaurant. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Lily (Jonathan) Lickers, his children Mark, Kevin, Kimberly, Cindy, brothers and sisters Florence, Norma, Elmer (Sonny), Lillian, Muriel (Dolly), Clifford, Morley, and Joyce. Len loved his bluegrass music and he and his brother Clifford sang together for many years and were part of the Grand River Bluegrass Band along with his nephews John McNaughton and Pete Atkins. He sang at many churches, nursing homes and bluegrass festivals. Len served in the United States Airforce as a Dental Assistant and was in Base Operations in Korea. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Six Nations Veterans Association. He is lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed for 37 years with AT&T (Verizon) in the U.S. He was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of the Grand River United Church and was chairman of the Building Committee for the new Grand River United Church. Passed away suddenly on Thursday June 26, 2014 at the age of 38 years. He is gone to be with his Papa. Beloved son of Marcella Longboat (Beano), and Jeff Hill. Dearly missed by his sisters, Trisha (John), Lacey, Ronnie, Shelsea and brothers, Gibb, Kyle (Burg), and Zak; his babies, Nicholas, Tessa, and Bennett; his other moms, Kim and Raida and especially his #1 gram and mom Dorothy; Godparents, Stan and Cathy Jonathan. Adopted by love son of Harley and Bev Bomberry. Beloved brother of Becky Logan, Sony Maracle and Lance Smoke; much loved uncle of Warren, Thomas, Kylee and Sterling; great uncle of Zyana. Special cousin of Cheyenne, Amerie, Austin and Ar. James was the beloved eldest grandson of Janice Williams and the late Irvin and Verna Logan. Most beloved nephew of Duane, Richard, Paul, Arlene, Darlene, Sharon, Keenan, Tia and Arlene. James will be missed by many cousins, Aunties and Uncles-in-law. James has followed his uncle Tom; Best Bud and cousin Erik to the Creator’s Home. John was a five year and ten month veteran of WWII, with five years and three months of overseas duty- England and into France, Belgium, Holland and into Germany where a victory salute was fired at 8:00 a.m. on May 8, 1945 to end the war.  John was a Sergeant in the 26th Battery, 4th Field Regiment;  life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #164 Hagersville; Past Master and Past Grand Steward of Hiram Masonic Lodge 319 Hagersville, ON.  John retired from the Canadian Gypsum Co. Ltd of Hagersville after 38.5 years service.  At John’s request direct cremation has taken place.

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones at the Brantford General Hospital on February 22nd 2014. In his 89th year, he is survived by his wife of 61 years Betty and their four children Wanda (Harold) Jamieson, Pam (Jim) Lennips, Brian and Denise. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Matthew (Annie) Jamieson, Aaron, Emily, Catherine, Jamie, Julia, Lauryn and great granddaughter Kieran.

Roger is well remembered for his many years of service at the Lady Willingdon Hospital which later became the Gane Yohs Medical Centre. Other community contributions included volunteering for Crimestoppers, the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the powwow as well as various churches, fairground events, parades, and skating carnivals.

Roger may be known best for his sports career as an athlete, coach and fan. He played on several sports teams including lacrosse, fastball, baseball and hockey that won many provincial championships. He also was an avid bowler, snowsnake thrower and ambassador for the game. After retiring, he turned his love of sports to coaching where he guided the Ohsweken Mohawks women’s fastball team to two Senior “B” Championships. In his later years, he was a fixture at ball diamonds, arenas and his living room cheering on local teams, his favourite Six Nations athletes, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

His absence will be greatly felt at places such as Two Arrows Restaurant, Angel’s Diner, his TV room recliner and the seat of his beloved John Deere lawnmower.

Also known as Miss Glenney to some, Margaret was born in Little Britain, Ontario on December 19, 1933 to Cecil and Janette (MacAlpine) Glenney and was married to Albert Porter in 1960. Margaret was a selfless, loving, generous and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Margaret proudly lived and served the community of Six Nations as a Nurse Practitioner for many years and an active member of the Ohsweken Baptist Church. Suddenly, after a tragic accident, in her 11th year our sweet Shiy moved out of our care and into eternity. Shiyloh is daughter to Daniel Hill and Patrice Hill. Big sister to Bezaliel Hill. Granddaughter of Ken and Kim Hill of Six Nations and the MacLeans of Cohill. Niece of Nahnda, Jonathan, Adam, Laura and Josh. Best cousin to Mia and Mahalia. She was a circus star at the Debra Brown Circus Arts camp, and a student at Major Ballachey in Brantford.
