Six Nations delegation plans to visit Elsipogtog

To the people of Six Nations,

My name is Christopher Hill. My Indian name is Owelo and I’m a member of the Iroquois Confederacy. I’m writing because I am a land defender and a strong believer in mother earth. I am planning to go out East with a group of people from Six Nations to join the people of Elsipogtog at their blockade in New Brunswick.

It is important that we stop the destruction and pollution of big industries that care nothing about people. The Mi’kmaq Warriors Society has put out the call for people to join them in taking a stand against those who pollute and destroy Onkwehon:we land. We need to take a stand against the fracking which is destroying our land and polluting our waters. This is my duty as an Onkwehon:we male. Not just for the Haudenosaunee Confederacy but for all nations. For all humanity. I ask you to join with me and support this delegation.

This past summer my partner and I joined a group of walkers from Saskatchewan to raise awareness of the Uranium mining plan. The plan is for Ontario to dump all their nuclear waste there. We walked for two and half months. We arrived in Ottawa on Aboriginal day. These decisions the corporations and government are making affect all humanity as they are destroying mother earth that gives us life.

I ended up meeting people from a lot of different nations. Dene, Cree, Ojibwe, some confederacy chiefs, some council chiefs. We went to the Treaty gathering at Onion Lake this summer and also spent time at the Unist’ot’en Action Camp. They are traditional people trying to stop a pipeline being built across their territory. They are living out on the land near the mountains. The built a cabin in the exact spot where the pipeline is set to go through and they have stopped it.

If you are interested in join us to go meet the Mi’kmaq on the front lines please get in touch with me. We want to send vehicles from Six Nations with food, clothing, and supplies. It’s time to make a stand. We are meeting at veterans park in Ohsweken, Thursday Oct 17th at 5pm to plan this. We will be joined by some of the group of walkers that came from Northern Saskatchewan and who walked for two and half months to get to Ottawa.
