Last week of NLL regular season coming up

An 11-point game by Shawn Evans powered the New England past the Georgia Swarm in Saturday night’s National Lacrosse League game at the Mohican Sun Arena in New England.
Georgia’s Randy Staats scored two and assisted on three for the Swarm while Johnny Powless put up thee assists. Lyle Thompson scored one and assisted on three and Miles Thompson scored one in a losing cause.

Buffalo edged Rochester 15-13 at the Blue Cross Arena Saturday as well. It was an extremely close game for three quarters ending 3-3 after one and 6-5 Rochester at the half. Each team scored twice in the third quarter but the Bandits scored eight fourth quarter goals, six of them in a string, while the Knighthawks could only manage five, despite a huge comeback effort led by Rochester’s Joe Resetarits who scored three in a row late in the game to draw within striking distance. Joe Walters got them even closer. Dhane Smith scored the last goal of the game to anchor the Buffalo win with an empty netter. Smith scored four for the winners and assisted on four more. Cody Jamieson recorded five assists for Rochester and Dan Dawson scored three and assisted on four.
The Colorado Mammoth doubled up on the Toronto Rock 10-5 and Vancouver downed Saskatchewan out west.

Coming into the final week of regular season, Buffalo still leads the East with 12 wins and five losses, followed by New England in second place, 1.5 games behind, and Georgia back five games. Rochester is 5.5 games back and the Toronto Rock are at the bottom, seven games out of first place. Last year at this time the Toronto was in first place with Rochester two games back. Since then, the Rock has fallen like a stone into the basement after a very frustrating season.

In the West, Saskatchewan leads, one game ahead of Colorado, five games ahead of Calgary and 6.5 games in front of Vancouver, who have clinched the Divisional title.
Numbers 83 and 88 for the Knighthawks are tied for 8th place in league scoring with 88 points each. Randy Staats #83, with 34 goals and 54 assists, and Jamieson with 41 goals and 57 assists to date.

Friday, April 30, Vancouver will be at Colorado, and on Saturday, Vancouver is at Georgia, New England will be at Buffalo, Saskatchewan at Rochester, Toronto at Calgary, and on Sunday Rochester and New England will close the regular season in New England.
