Six Nations businessman Ken Hill, one of the founders of tobacco giant Grand River Enterprises, has died.
GRE President Steve Williams confirmed with the Two Row Times this afternoon that Hill, 62, died in Miami but the time and cause of death is not yet known.
“We’re going to be releasing a statement sometime today,” said Williams. “We don’t know exactly what happened yet. We will get some clarification today.”
He expressed sympathy for the family and asked that their privacy be respected.
Hill was one of the most prominent and well-known Indigenous millionaires in Canada. He owned several businesses outside of Grand River Enterprises and was known for his love of cars. He is also the uncle of Six Nations Elected Chief Mark Hill.
The Two Row Times wishes to express sympathy to Hill’s family, friends and co-workers.
