Six Nations food bank receives donations

OHSWEKEN – The Six Nations Food Bank was happy to receive two generous donations this week.

Six Nations Economic Development & Six Nations Lands/Membership dropped by to drop off the proceeds from their Community Awareness Week event. The group raised over $1002.10  during their Community Awareness event through food sales at their booth.

Dennis Howden from the Caledonia Lions Club also popped by for a visit and dropped off a $1000 contribution from his organization. The Caledonia based group are interested in helping set up a Lion’s Club on Six Nations.

Clint Doolittle, the Six Nations Community Food Bank co-ordinator stated that “we are very appreciative of the support from Six Nations and surrounding communities. It is through the generous support of organizations such as Six Nations Economic Development, Six Nations Lands/Membership and the Caledonia Lion’s Club that we are able to provide a cost saving nutritional supplement to the families of the Six Nations and New Credit Communities. Nyaweh for your ongoing support and generosity!”

The Six Nations food bank is located at 1741 4th line road, in Ohsweken. Their donation and drop-off hours are

Monday-Wednesday 9:00am-4:30pm, Thursday 9:30am-5:30pm, and they are closed on Fridays. The food bank accepts any and all unexpired food.
