Peanut butter cookies smell like home

Sorry to my friends allergic to peanuts, but one of my favourite cookies to eat during the holiday season are my father’s peanut butter cookies.

At home, we gave the cookies a nickname in regards to the Hershey’s Kisses anointed in their centres and jokingly refer to them as “nipple cookies”.

The scent of peanut butter and chocolate seems to last for hours as they bake and it really has become a family tradition.

You will need:

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 56 Hershey’s Kisses.

Begin by heating your oven to 325 F (160 C). Start your mixture by creaming the sugars, peanut butter and butter together. Then move to the dry ingredients; sift the salt, soda and flour together and stir it into the creamed mixture. Now blend it and once you’ve blended it well you can roll the dough into little 1 inch balls. Place them onto a greased cookie sheet and flatten with your palm or a fork for added flair. Next, place a Hershey’s Kiss into the centre and voila, you’re ready to bake the little things for 15 to 18 minutes.

These awesome little cookies can be eaten in various ways. Pair them with milk, hold onto the kiss like a handle, save the kiss for last in the centre or invent your own way. They’re definitely worth the try this holiday season!
