Standing Bear Camp Canoe/Kayak Skills Development coming to Six Nations

ONTARIO — The deadline to register for the Standing Bear Camp Canoe/Kayak Skills Development Camp held by Indigenous Sport and Wellness Ontario (ISWO) in the Six Nations community is approaching.

Open to Indigenous youth between the ages of 12-18. registration closes on September 1, and participants will join the Standing Bear team on September 9-11, 2022 for a free 3-day youth leadership and skills development program.

Participants will spend the weekend improving their canoeing skills, participate in cultural teachings, and more.

According to Ontario Parks, the activity “protects your joints: Paddling is a low-impact activity, which reduces the risk of wear and tear on joints compared to many other activities. Improves cardiovascular fitness: paddling is a great exercise to elevate the heart rate and improve cardiovascular health.”

Registration is limited and is based on a first-come, first-served basis and can be performed on the my.iswo.ca website.
