Bill C-10 passes third reading
OTTAWA – Bill C-10 passed a third reading in Parliament last Friday. Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice Bob Dechert presented the bill saying “organized crime” was central to “contraband” cigarettes.

35 Arrests made in largest tobacco raid in US-Canadian history
Montreal – The Sûreté du Québec, the police force known throughout indigenous Canada as the force involved in the “Oka Crisis” of 1990, carried out an organized raid in Montreal, Akwesasne and Kahnawake territories today regarding “contraband” tobacco.

Counties agree to fight contraband cigarette trafficking
Four New York county district attorneys announced an agreement to fight cigarette trafficking. The agreement was negotiated with Ohio-based R + L Carriers trucking company. St. Lawrence County, Franklin County, Chautauqua County and Suffolk County were the represented county governments.
