Arrows to open season with annual Bread n Cheese Game

The Minto Cup Champion Six Nations Arrows Express will be arriving at the Jr. A lacrosse 2015 season opener’s ball fashionably late this year.

They are reserving their grand debut for the annual Bread and Cheese Day game, being played on Victoria Day Monday, May 18 at 4 pm, at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. Their opponents this year will be the Peterborough Lakers.

Things have been rather low-key so far at the Arrows camp, but this is not due to any lack of excitement or seriousness as the Arrows’ defend the National title. It may just be by design to keep the rest of the league waiting to see how they are stacked up before they even play a game. If so, a brilliant move.

If, on the other hand, it was arranged that way because the Arrows want to draw attention to the Six Nations annual Bread and Cheese Day celebrations, also a brilliant move.

But the truth may also be more mundane in origin. Arena scheduling, maybe in fact they weren’t going to be ready to start the season.
