Third Indigenous fashion event expands with marketplace, culinary experiences and live performances

The third annual Runway of Rezilience lands Sept. 26 at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto under a clear theme: the Haudenosaunee Skywalkers.

Produced by Seeing Red, the Indigenous-led event has grown into one of the larger Indigenous fashion gatherings in the country. This year’s edition moves into Evergreen Brick Works and pushes past a straight runway format. Fashion remains the focus, but the night also carries an Indigenous marketplace, visual art, beadwork and jewellery, live music, and a culinary component led by Indigenous chefs and vendors.

Doors open at 5 p.m. The main show starts at 7 p.m. Organizers describe more than 20 activations spread across the venue.

The Skywalkers theme anchors the production. It honours the Mohawk and Haudenosaunee ironworkers whose skill and nerve helped raise the skylines of Toronto, New York, Chicago and other cities. That history of high-steel work is being carried onto the runway through fashion, storytelling and performance.

Music runs through the evening. Natasha Fisher opens with an acoustic set on the OLG-powered Hearing Red Stage during the pre-show window. LOV takes the intermission slot. Additional sets, including DJ Kookum and Shina Nova, keep the room moving.

Hosts include Kali Bomberry of Six Nations, Chelsea Chasingdreams and Eagle Blackbird. Designers on the bill include Marissa Anderson of Six Nations, Lesley Hampton, Tisha Thompson, Bineshi Ikwewag, Leela Thomas and others presenting new collections. Models announced so far include Neebeesh Elliott and Kendall (Tewakerahkhwa), walking with a larger cast from across Turtle Island.

The marketplace is set up for direct exchange. Artists and makers will show and sell beadwork, textiles, prints, jewellery and original work, with space for guests to meet the people behind the pieces. Food is treated as another form of cultural expression rather than background catering.

An official after-party is scheduled to start at 10:30 p.m. and run late.

Seeing Red frames the shift to Evergreen Brick Works as a deliberate expansion, giving the production more room for the elements that now sit alongside the runway. What began as a fashion showcase has become a broader platform for designers, performers, makers and storytellers to share space in one place.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
