Good day and welcome back to Six Nay Sports Talk! It was definitely an action packed weekend of sports. MLB baseball is in its last month of regular season action with plenty of teams making a final push for a postseason playoff spot. Over the weekend our Toronto Bluejays took 2 out of 3 games on the road in Kansas City over the Royals with a 9-2 win Friday, 4-3 win Saturday and a 6-1 defeat on sunday. Toronto opened its week day series this past monday with a close 6-5 defeat against the Athletics in Sacramento. As of right now, the Jays currently sit one game back of the Cleveland Guardians for the final AL Wild Card spot with their 72-73 record. The jays play the Athletics Tuesday & Today before heading back home to take on the Baltimore Orioles Friday night back in Toronto for an important three game series. Currently, the next and final five series matchups remaining in the regular season are against sub-500 record teams, including the Baltimore Orioles September 11th-13th, Detroit Tigers September 14th-16th, Texas Rangers September 18th-20th, Baltimore Orioles September 21st-23rd & Cincinnati Reds September 25th-27th. The Bluejays have every reason to win most of those games and make it back to the post season for their third season in a row. Let’s just hope they can continue playing well and rack up some wins the rest of September and bring postseason MLB baseball back to the 6ix!

In College Football news, Week 1 just got over monday night with some thrilling games. North Carolina Tarheels upset the TCU Horned Frogs in the first college game of the year played in Dublin, Ireland with a final score of 15-10 upset win for the Tar Heels. #1 Ranked Ohio State clapped visiting Ball State 56-3. #3 Georgia destroyed visiting Tennessee State 63-3. #2 Oregon narrowly defeated visiting Boise State 34-27 in a game where they were favoured to win by 24 points. Archie Manning & The Texans Longhorns took care of visiting Texas State with a massive 59-7 win. The most controversial game of the weekend came Saturday afternoon where the Michigan Wolverines defeated the visiting Western Michigan Broncos on a last second hail mary play where Michigan starting QB Bryce Underwood launched a 47 yard bomb to Michigan WR JJ Buchanan into the end zone with the clock at 0.0 remaining to win the game 13-12. The controversial call came during the play right before as the clock seemed to expire at 0.0 seconds but the referees huddled around and decided to add 1 second to the game clock where the Wolverines scored a touchdown on the second hail mary effort. Michigan needed every second of the 60 minute game to walk away from the game as winners in what would have definitely been the early upset of the year in a game where Michigan was favoured to win by four touchdowns (-27.5). The biggest surprise beating came in the Clemson vs LSU game. LSU was set as a 10 point favourite in the game but ended up winning 51-10 where they kept the pedal on the metal even after leading the Tigers 31-3 at halftime. Week two of college football kicks off tomorrow night where the #7 Nationally ranked Miami Hurricanes take on the Florida A&M Rattlers. Miami is a -55.5 point favourite in this game. Big matchups this weekend include #11 ranked Oklahoma Sooners visiting Michigan Wolverines for a noon start on sunday, Arizona Wildcats on the road against #15 ranked BYU Cougars Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm, #18 ranked Tennessee visits Georgia Tech for a 7pm kickoff Saturday as well. The absolute game of the weekend that all eyes will be on takes place Saturday night at 7:30pm where #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes take on the #4 ranked Texas Longhorns in a battle of heisman trophy candidates. Ohio State QB Julian Sayin who threw for 320 passing yards and 3 touchdowns takes on the nephew of NFL Hall Of Fame QB’s Peyton & Eli Manning; Arch Manning. Archie threw for 305 passing yards and 4 touchdowns in his week one victory. The winner of this game might be the favourite win the National Championship this year. As a football fan it’s very exciting to get such big time game this early on in just week two of the college football season.

In NFL football news, we are officially back! The first game of the NFL season takes place tonight in a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. Since the Super Bowl, New England’s big team addition is WR AJ Brown who they picked up during the offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles. The big loss for the Seahawks was letting go of the superbowl’s MVP Kenneth Walker, who signed a three year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Currently, the Seahawks are -3.5 point favourites before tonight’s game kicks off at 8:20pm. Remaining matchups for the rest of NFL Week One are as follows:

SF 49ers @ LA Rams (played in Melbourne, Australia)
Chicago Bears @ Carolina Panthers
Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts
Atlanta Falcons @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Cincinnati Bengals
New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans
New Orleans Saints @ Detroit Lions
Buffalo Bills @ Houston Texans
Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Chargers
Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
Miami Dolphins @ Las Vegas Raiders
Washington Commanders @ Philadelphia Eagles
Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs

Last year I did a weekly “Pick Em” each week of the NFL regular season and we kept track of my win and losses with 5 picks made each week and that was a lot of fun, so why ruin a good thing? Let’s run it back! For week 1, I like the Rams, Lions, Bills, Cowboys & Broncos to all win. Let’s see if I can start the season 5/5!
