BRANTFORD — As part of the Onkwehon:we Festival, a Smoke Dance Competition was held on the grounds of the Woodland Cultural Centre on Sunday, June 17.
Emceed by Adrian Harjo and Convened by Reese Hill, categories from tiny tots, juniors, teens and adults graced the circle with their full traditional regalia to dance to songs sung by Norman Jimerson and the NY State Dance crew.
Winning dancers were awarded with prize money and the audience was also graced by a performance by World Champion Hoop Dancer Ascension Harjo.
