Greasers slide into Dreamcatcher Lax Festival win
SIX NATIONS – The eight teams registered in this year’s Dreamcatcher Lacrosse Festival played this past weekend at the ILA in Six Nations. The teams included the St. Catharines Saints, the Caughawaga Indians, the Wallaceburg Red Devils, Tuscarora, as well as the Six Nations Greasers, Six Nations Slash, Six Nations Sting, and the Six Nations Rez Dogs, all divided into two pools.
Knighthawks loading up on sevens
ROCHESTER, NY – Sevens have certainly been wild for the Rochester Knighthawks. Today, forward Craig Point became the third member of the back-to-back National Lacrosse League Champions to re-sign for seven years, joining Dan Dawson and Sid Smith.
Brantford Blast hot out of the Gate
BRANTFORD – The Brantford Blast are off to a good start in the Sr. AAA Allan Cup Hockey League after weekend games.
They opened the new season last week with a 7-1 win over Welland, and this past Friday, Nov. 8th, they notched a 3-0 shutout win over their arch rivals, the Dundas Real McCoys. That was followed Sunday afternoon with a tight 6-5 win over the Stoney Creek Generals in Stoney Creek.

And they did it all on budget, according to Chief Bill Montour and economic development director Matt Jamieson.

20-0 Corvairs still fine-tuning
CALEDONIA – A perfect 20-0 record as the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League approaches the halfway point of the 2013-2014 regular season has become a magnet for the cream of the Jr. B crop and an already powerful roster seems to get even stronger with every new acquisition. Even so, players are still being looked at by general manager Brian Rizzetto and probably will be until trade deadline as he fine-tunes the club for another serious run at the Sutherland Cup.

BRANTFORD – There was another clash of ideals on Erie Ave Monday when members of the Mens Fire, HDI director Hazel Hill, the Mohawk Workers and Guswenta Holdings faced off over a proposed development deal that involves land at the corner of Erie Ave and Birkett Lane in Brantford.
Brantford museum honours Onkwehon:we warrior allies
BRANTFORD – The Canadian Military Heritage Museum in Brantford has a great display section dedicated to the Onkwehon:we allied warriors from the American Revolution to today’s warriors in uniform around the world.
Rick Shaver, chair of the museum, says his display has been heavily viewed by non-Native visitors and school children.
Six Nations PeeWee’s one goal shy
OHSWEKEN – The Six Nation PeeWee’s came close, but didn’t get the win Saturday at the GPA against the Delhi Rockets. Instead, they had to settle for a hard fought, 4-3 loss.
There was no scoring in the first period, but Six Nations gave up a two-on-none breakaway early in the second period which Devin Boughner eventually scored on.
House League Novices take it on the chin
OHSWEKEN – The Six Nations House League Novice’s tangled with Ingersol #1 at the Gaylord Powless Arena Saturday afternoon and came out on the wrong side of a 5-2 final score.
The first period need with Six Nations leading 1-0 on the lone goal of the period scored by Davin MacDonald, assisted by Liam Maracle and Liam Porter.
Corvairs now 19-0 and looking unstoppable
CALEDONIA – The Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs only had one game this week, but it was a big one. The 19-0 Corvairs put it on the line Saturday night at the Haldimand Centre Arena against the 16-2-0, second place St. Catharines Falcons.
It was the consistent, all-line balanced roaster from the goal line on out that has been the benchmark of the Pro-Fit Corvairs over the past couple of years and this year’s 19-0 record is proof that whatever the formula is, it’s working.
Blast harpoon Whalers 7-1
BRANTFORD – The Brantford Blast of the Allan Cup Sr Hockey League got the new season off on the right foot with a 7-1 pulverizing of the Welland Whalers at the Brantford Civic Centre Friday night.
It only took 58 seconds for Brandon Dietrich to put the Blast one goal ahead with a quick release on a pass out from behind the Welland net from Joel Prpic.
