First degree murder charges in Cayuga Road homicide, 1 suspect still at large

SIX NATIONS – OPP have identified two suspects and arrested one man in relation to the shooting death of 27 year old Andrew Davis.

OPP and Six Nations Police have arrested and charged 24 year old Andrew Brent Smoke with first degree murder on December 3. He was set to appear in court on December 4.

A second suspect is still being sought: SNP now have an arrest warrant for 22 year old Eric Jerome Smoke, pictured above. Police believe the suspect may be headed toward the Hamilton area. He is described as an indigenous male, 5’11, 148 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and gold teeth. He has a “SMOKE” banner tattoo around a skull and rose on his left arm.

On Monday, November 30 at around 5:18 p.m. police and ambulance along with the Brant OPP Canine Unit on reports of a shooting on Cayuga Road. Police say the victim, 27 year old Andrew Davis, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering gunshot wounds. At the time police reported that there was no public safety risk as the victim and suspects were known to each other and officers were in pursuit of the two men who were believed to have fled the scene on foot. Residents were warned to avoid the area of Cayuga Road between 5th and 6th Lines while the search for the suspects was underway.

Now police are warning the public saying Smoke may be armed and dangerous and are advising the public not to approach him but instead call 911.

OPP released a statement on Dec 1 saying they believed Six Nations residents had information about the incident and implored anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 22 yr old Eric Jerome Smoke is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
