Haldimand-Norfolk confirms 1st case of COVID-19

SIMCOE – Haldimand-Norfolk is confirming one resident has tested positive for novel coronavirus COVID-19.

The person is a resident of Norfolk County and is currently experiencing mild symptoms. They are self-isolating at home.

Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit is now reaching out to anyone who may have been in close contact with the person and say all of their close contacts are in self-isolation.

“In the context of the number of cases reported in the province, this first case is not unexpected. The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit will continue to work with the counties of Haldimand and Norfolk as well as hospitals, community health centers and community physicians to formulate a response to COVID-19,” says Medical Officer of Health Shanker Nesathurai.
