“Friday Night Under the Lights” – Six Nations boxers featured

BRANTFORD — Six Nations fighters will be on the card this Friday night for the return of “Friday Night’s Under the Lights” boxing events at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 12 Catharine Avenue in West Brantford. The event is being promoted by the Bell City Boxing Club run by Bill Williams, longtime respected member of the local boxing fraternity.

This “Friday Nights Under the Lights” card will feature 14 fights, including some of his club’s Six Nations fighters, including Skylar Williams, Stew Martin, and Super Heavy Weight, Brody Williams. In all, Bell City Boxing boasts at present five Six Nations fighters at various ages, weights, and stages of development.

The “Friday Night Under the Lights” series is the Club’s main main fundraising events.

Williams was a boxing coach with the Bell City Boxing Club long before leaving Ontario for Nova Scotia in 2011, He and Jackie Armour worked together to build what became the Black-Eye Boxing Club. When Williams left for the East coast, he left the club in Armours care. When he returned, seeing the Black-Eye was doing so well under Armour’s oversight he decided to go back and start all over again just for the challenge of doing it.

Although he will admit to a certain amount of rivalry between the two clubs, Williams and Armour both insist there is an amicable and respectful relationship between their two Brantford clubs.

Tickets for the event, which can be purchased at Maria’s Pizza (west), Knights of Columbus, Bell City Boxing Club or at the door – are $20. and Children will be admitted for $10. Gate opens at 6 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
