OHSWEKEN – Tabitha Curley (left), from Six Nations Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC), came to the Six Nations Community Foodbank Monday morning to drop of a cheque for $935 to Ellen-Rose Jamieson, foodbank co-ordinator (right).
“The Six Nations Food Bank provides a valuable service to the community,” said Curley, corporate communications officer of SNGRDC. “We wanted to do something to support them especially during the summer months when food bank donations tend to decrease.”
Curley said that the SNGRDC wanted to give the money raised at their community awareness week event to the food bank.
“We had our Community Awareness Week event on May 21,” she said. “We had a raffle, prize bingo and a barbecue put on by several departments in the corporation and all the money raised from that went to the food bank.”
The departments included; Administration, Six Nations Tourism, Six Nations Bingo, Aecon Six Nations and Our Sustenance Program.
Jamieson is thankful for the donation and just wants to remind the community that despite construction, food service hours remain the same and have not been affected by the roadwork.
