Noted indigenous businessperson Ron Jamieson named Member of the Order of Canada

On July 1st Six Nations’ own Ron Jamieson was recently named as a Member of the Order of Canada along with 85 others. 

1297518335836_ORIGINALIn a press release from the Governor General of Canada, Jamieson was noted “for his pioneering contributions to the finance industry, notably in improving access to financial services for First Nations people across Canada.”

Last fall Jamieson was also appointed to the Order of Ontario for his efforts in economic development for First Nations communities across Canada. He previously served as the Senior Vice-President of Aboriginal Banking at BMO Financial Group. Jamieson now has numerous leadership positions including a seat on the board for the Ontario Power Authority and Nuclear Waste Management Canada. He is Chairman of the Council for Aboriginal Business, President of First Canadian Property Investments Ltd and serves Denendeh Investment Incorporated, all of which seek to support the infrastructure and economic growth of indigenous communities.

There will be an official ceremony at a later date for all 86 people who have been newly appointed to the Order of Canada.
