Six Nations Firefighters respond to house fire

SIX NATIONS — At 11:44 p.m. on April 17, 2016, four Six Nations Fire Stations and firefighters were dispatched for a report of a House Fire at 1935 Tuscarora Road in the Six Nations of the Grand River territory.

A quick response was made with the first arriving crew of Pumper/Rescue 1 arriving on scene at 11:51 p.m.

First arriving crews reported heavy smoke but no visible flame coming from the southeast corner of a split level home.

As the initial entry team of firefighters were advancing hose lines to the front door on the east side of the home heavy flame and smoke became visible from a window on the 1 southeast corner of the home.

A quick offensive transitional attack of the fire was initiated, as crews entered the home they were met with heavy smoke conditions but were able to quickly advance to the seat of the fire.

At approximately 12:03 a.m. the fire was reported as being knocked down.

Concurrent with the offensive attack of the fire a primary search for victims was completed of the home with no victims being found.

Two occupants of the home did escape the fire prior to the arrival of fire crews, at this time there are no reports of any injuries or fatalities.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, no damage estimate is available at this time.
