Youth arrested and charged with attempted murder

A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after police found a cab driver who had been shot last Friday night.

On Nov. 18, Six Nations Police and paramedics were called to the scene of a male taxi driver slumped over the seat of a cab on Seneca Road, south of Fourth Line Road, at around 8:11 p.m.

The cab was partially in the ditch when police arrived. Police found the driver had been shot in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was stated as being in critical, but stable, condition.

Police found a male suspect nearby and arrested him for aggravated assault. The 17-year-old, who can’t be named under the Youth Justice Act, is facing charges of attempted murder, robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, three counts of fail to comply with a release order, and several firearms related offences.

He was taken into custody.
