MAN INJURED IN MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

SIX NATIONS – Chiefswood Bridge was closed on Thursday just after 5 p.m. due to a collision following a high speed chase with an SUV.

Six Nations Police said they were investigating reports of a stolen Chevrolet SUV at a Chiefswood Road address when a man and a woman inside the SUV fled.

Police pursued the couple down Chiefswood Road and during the pursuit the SUV struck a 2008 Ford Escape on Chiefswood Bridge. The driver of the Ford Escape lost control and ended up in the southbound lane, hitting the guardrails.

The driver of the Escape sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Police said the suspect SUV failed to remain at the scene of the collision and fled from Six Nations Police.

Police ended pursuit of the SUV to assist the driver of the Ford Escape involved in the collision.

A press statement from the police say the suspect SUV was last seen in the area of Chiefswood Road and Highway 54. Police are continuing to investigate and charges are pending against the man and woman who were in the SUV.

Six Nations Police said that the couple involved in the pursuit are known to police but could not confirm if the two are the same duo currently being sought by Halton Regional Police.
