OPP officer injured during arrest

BRANT COUNTY – County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in response to a male walking along Highway 403 in dark clothing on the night of Saturday, February 20.

The male was barely visible to motorists and refused to leave the highway once the OPP attended the scene. The male was apprehended for being a pedestrian on a highway violating the Highway Traffic Act.

During the arrest, an officer was injured and later taken to a local hospital by the County of Brant Ambulance Service.

Austin LaMont,18, of Six Nations was charged for being a pedestrian on a prohibited highway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, assault causing bodily harm and resisting arrest, all which follow the Criminal Code of Canada.

He will answer to the charges at a later date with an appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice.
