OHSWEKEN – Hearts were aglow with the holiday spirit as the Six Nations Santa Clause Parade made its way through the village of Ohsweken this past Saturday. Parade participants eagerly contributed to this year’s theme “A Classic Cartoon Christmas”, with floats inspired by “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Merry Christmas Charlie Brown” and everything in between.
Hosted by Community Minded Spirits in Action, the full day of festivities kicked off at 8 am with breakfast at the Six Nations Community Hall. Judging of the floats began at 9 am before the parade kicked off an hour later at the Ohsweken Speedway. The parade ended around 11 am at the Six Nations Community Hall, where children had the opportunity to get their photo taken with Santa Claus.
This was the parade’s 24th year of bringing magic to the Six Nations community, with the size of the event growing year after year.
