The upcoming ‘Madden NFL 21’ video game will have no references to the Washington Redskins name or logo.
According to the Electronic Arts company, in ‘Madden NFL 21’ Redskins will be removed from all aspects including in-game commentary, motion graphics, stadium art, player uniforms, crowd gear and in-stadium signs.
“We are pleased to see Washington’s decision to change their team name and visual identity,” an Electronic Arts representative said. “We are quickly working to update Madden NFL 21 to feature a generic Washington team, while we await final word on the updated team name and logo design.”
The Washington franchise made history when earlier this month following a team review, and pressure from sponsors, they decided to go ahead and change their team name and logo.
EA Sports, who will be releasing Madden NFL 21 on August 25 made an announcement back in June that they will take a harder line against racism in its games.
