Hagersville Hawks scare up a Halloween night shut out

There were no tricks in Hagersville on Halloween night as the Hawks treated themselves to a 7-0 win over the Simcoe Storm in Jr. C action. Travis Bell scared up the first goal of the game for a 1-0 Hagersville lead.

From there, Dan Mederios, Austin Cairns, Cole Dezainne, Michael Arch, Shaun General and Derek Friesen built up the 7-0 final as Ryan Guy held firm in the Hawks net for the shut-out win, standing up to all 16 shots he was called upon to face.

What started out to be a calm and peaceful game, as far as penalties were concerned, turned into a third period shoving match at the 16:38 point when Hagersville’s Jordy Land and Simcoe’s Austin Lams and Dakota Culbert locked horns resulting in Land getting called for two roughing minors, inciting an opponent and a misconduct. Lams got an inciting call plus a misconduct. Culbert took a roughing minor. The Hawks were coming off a 4-1 loss in Grimsby, Friday night.
Dan Mederios accounted for the lone Hagersville goal scored at 10:03 of the first period from Aaron Painter and Derek Friesen.

The Hawks go again Thursday, Nov. 5th, away, against the Niagara Riverhawks, Saturday night at home against Glanbrook and then Sunday afternoon in Port Dover.
