SIX NATIONS – The Six Nations Can/Am Slash lost 13-3 to the Pinewoods Smoke Friday, at the Cattaraugus Community Centre in a cross-divisional matchup. The Slash is now two wins and three losses in the North Division while the Pinewoods Smoke buttressed its first place position in the South.
The Smoke began to rise almost immediately when Kavan Sullivan opened the scoring at 1:51. Twenty minutes later, the Slash stood looking up at a 7-0 deficit.
Back-to-back Pinewoods goals scored at 11:32 and 11:51, pushed that to a 9-0 pummelling before Torrey VanEvery broke the string at 17:27 from Matt Atkinson. Although the Slash showed better in the third than the first two periods, but it would not be nearly enough.
Russ Davis and Colton Hart added third period goals for Six Nations in the losing effort.
Saturday night, May 13, at 7 p.m., at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena (ILA), the Slash will try and improve their record at home against the Buffalo Creek Thunder. Then, on Sunday the 14th, the Slash will be in Allegany to face the Arrows.
