Masters Indigenous Games coming to Toronto

TORONTO — The Masters Indigenous Games is the next athletic display for indigenous athletes aged 20 years and older to hit Toronto on July 12 to 15 at Downsview Park (35 Carl Hall).

The athletes will be given the opportunity to compete in contemporary and traditional sporting activities including lacrosse, archery, and tipi building with the main focus being to promote being physically active, engaging with communities and enjoying the fun in competition.

These games in particular will also present an opportunity for alumni of the North American Indigenous Games to reunite with past teammates, friends and opponents — besides the opportunity to promote indigenous cultures.

Presented by the determination and commitment of Provincial/Territorial Aboriginal Sporting Body for Ontario and The Aboriginal Sport and Wellness Council of Ontario (ASWCO), the event is hoped to be a key cultural event for the summer in Toronto.
