Upcoming virtual conference for Indigenous women and girls to cover sports, fitness and more

ONTARIO — On June 20, the Indigenous Sport and Wellness Ontario announced open registration for the ‘Sharing Our Strength Virtual Conference’ to take place online from June 27-29.

Provided by the Indigenous Sport & Wellness Ontario (ISWO) Women & Girls Committee, the virtual conference will be aimed at providing a platform for some Indigenous female role models to share their success stories with Indigenous First Nations, Metis, and Inuit women and girls across Ontario.

Offering three days of presentations: day one will cover business and entrepreneurship, day two will cover sports and fitness, and day three will cover culture and Identity.

“It is our hope that these women and girls leave the conference feeling empowered with a new sense of confidence in their ability to see themselves as a leader and leave feeling motivated for their next chapter in life,” reads the page on the ISWO website.

For culture & identity: Josee Bourgeois, Dawn Setford, and Gabrielle Fayant will keynote. For sports & fitness: Mary Spencer, Brigette Lacquette, and Kendra Jessie will keynote, and business & entrepreneurship will see Krystal Abotossaway, Marian Jacko lead, with more to be announced.

There will be ongoing attendance and prize entries for each presentation, for each presentation attended, attendees will be entered into a prize draw.

Registration is open to all First Nations, Metis, and Inuit women and girls residing in Ontario, ages 14 and up.
