Cyclops overcome by Lockmonsters

SIX NATIONS – In CLax professional lacrosse action at the ILA Friday night, the Niagara Lock Monsters used a strong forth quarter to pull away from the Southwest Cyclops, 11-7.

The Cyclops scored six seconds after the opening faceoff with a quick one by Mike Burk. Lockmonsters’ Tim Bergin evened it at 1-1 and Bryan Neufeld took the 2-1 lead.

The Monsters got that back and then gave Southwest the lead back with a buzzer beater at with .03 seconds remaining on the clock to end the first Quarter with the Cyclops leading 3-2.

The score was tied at 5-5 at the half, with Cyclops goals going to Jordan Dance and Kyle Childerhose.

Southwest continued to pressure the second place Lockmonsters in the third quarter, but the Monsters came up leading 7-6 at the three-quarter mark.

The fourth quarter was all about the Monsters as Andrew Potter, Chris Janese, Cory Fowler and Tim Bergin trumped Southwest, 4-1 in the last 15 minutes to take the 11-7 win.

These same two teams go at it again this coming Thursday, Mar. 13, at the Seymour Hannah Arena in St. Catharines.
