In NFL news, what may have seemed like a boring start to the Buffalo Bills vs LA Rams game with just 20 points scored in the first half ended up being a thrilling shootout OT blockbuster! In just the fourth quarter there were 35 points scored, with the rams getting a game tying touchdown with just 5 seconds left to force overtime. Overtime was nothing short of a wave of nervousness for bills fans as James Cook fumbled the ball in fg range which set up the rams to take the ball down the field and win it with a field goal. Luckily, thanks for a staggering field goal block by Bills defensive player Greg Rousseau, the bills got the ball back, marched it back down the field and kicked a game winning 45 yard field from the Bills kicker Tyler Bass! Josh Allen finished the game with 210 passing yards, an insane 121 rushing yards and two total td’s. The Buffalo Bills are now 4-1 and leading the AFC East division. There are 3 remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, The surprisingly 5-0 Minnesota Vikings, The powerhouse 5-0 San Fransisco 49ers and The 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs. The Buffalo Bills play the second game of their west coast trip this sunday afternoon in Las Vegas against the Raiders where they are currently a -4.5 point favourite to win the game. For this week’s pick em selection, I have the Buffalo Bills winning, the New England Patriots winning, the Atlanta Falcons winning, as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs & San Fransisco 49ers all winning.
In NHL hockey news, the start to the 2026-2027 season has been a great one. The Hometown Toronto Maple Leafs have started their season with a record of 3-2-1, coming off of a stellar 6-3 road win over the tough Colorado Avalanche. They have games this week against the Utah Mammoth, and a QEW clash against the Sabres in Buffalo. The Sabres have started their season off with a 3-3 record, and got a home barn 5-3 win over the visiting Florida Panthers on monday. They have games this week against leafs and two games on the road against the Canadiens. Currently, the top 5 teams in the league through just a handful of games are the Carolina Hurricanes 5-1-1, Ottawa Senators 5-1, New York Rangers 5-2, Las Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 & the Edmonton Oilers 4-0-1. The top 5 players leading in scoring thus far are Connor McDavid (Oilers) 3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points, Evan Bouchard (Oilers) 6 goals, 6 assists, 12 points, Jack Eichel (Golden Knights) 3 goals, 9 assists, 12 points, Sebastian Aho (Hurricanes) 6 goals, 5 assists, 11 points & William Nylander (Leafs) 5 goals, 6 assists, 11 points. This week’s game of the week takes place tomorrow night where the Buffalo Sabres head on down the QEW to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs, game time is set for 7pm and should be a good one! This is the first matchup of the season with 4 games total being played between the Sabres vs Leafs.
In MLB baseball news, we have 4 teams remaining. The LA Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Guardians & Tampa Bay Rays. Currently as of Tuesday October 13th, the Brewers lead the Dodgers 2-0 in the series and the Guardians lead their series over the Rays 1-0. The NL/AL Championship series are played with the first team to win 4 games advancing to this year’s World Series Championship. A Guardians vs Brewers series would be pretty sweet considering the LA Dodgers were a massive favourite to 3peat, and they’re currently down in their series to the brewers 2-0. Cleveland has been a huge surprise this postseason, they barely squeezed into a playoff spot but they’ve been playing phenomenal. Game #2 takes place Tuesday night with Parker Messick getting the starting pitching nod for the Guardians and Freddy Peralta holding it down for the Rays. Game #3 in the NLCS moves to Los Angeles tonight where Milwaukee’s Robert Gasser gets the starting nod and Dodgers will be rolling with Blake Snell.
The WNBA Championship Final is set. It will be the Atlanta Dream facing off with the Golden State Valkyries in a best of 7 series. The Atlanta Dream knocked out the New York Liberty to make the final and the Golden State Valkyries have knocked out the defending champion Vegas Aces to make their first ever final. I like the Golden State Valkyries to take down this year’s championship as they have proven to be a defensive-minded menace to everyone they play against, and led by up and coming star Gabby Williams.
