Assessment shows improvements not significant
Chiefs of Ontario marked Sisters in Spirit Day on Oct. 4 by releasing a report card on the National Inquiry’s 231 Calls for Justice for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people.
The national day of action honours the lives of those who have been murdered or gone missing and stands with families still seeking justice. The Chiefs of Ontario Women’s Initiatives Sector assessment concludes that while some steps have been taken, significant work remains to deliver lasting safety, justice and healing.
Sisters in Spirit Day continues to serve as an annual focus for advocacy, remembrance and pressure on governments to implement the Calls for Justice in full.
