It has taken almost 20 years in red tape and court delays, but the Tsilhqot’in Nation land claim concerning a 1,750-sq-kilometer region within the BC interior was ruled Thursday morning to be in control over what development takes place within their traditional territory.

SIX NATIONS — Six Nations folk quilter Irma Martin was at the Solidarity Day celebration at Chiefswood Park Saturday selling tickets for a raffle for a hand made quilt she designed five years ago and only recently completed. The quilt depicts several Pow Wow dancers in full regalia.

Paddlers had a beautiful day last Saturday to take a leisurely float down the Grand River as part of the yearly event, Day of 1,000 Canoes. In its fourth year now, this year’s event had around 450 participants who paddled, hiked and biked from Caledonia to Cayuga.
