BREAKING: TWO MEN CHARGED IN MURDER OF RUTH ANN LONGBOAT

Six Nations Police have charged two men with first degree murder in the March 2022 death of Six Nations woman Ruth Ann Longboat, 56.

Police announced today they have arrested two individuals in connection with Longboat’s death.

After an intensive investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, Michael JOSEPH, 23, of Brantford and Jayden ELIJAH, 23, of London, are both charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1)
  • Committing an indignity to a body, contrary to Section 182

Both men appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford today, June 7, 2022 and are being held in custody.

The Toronto Police Service began a homicide investigation on March 8, 2022, after the body of Longboat was discovered in the Humber River, south of Dundas Street West in Toronto.

The investigation remains ongoing and further updates will be provided when available.
