Elementary school students donate to SN food bank

OHSWEKEN – More people in need of food for the holidays will be helped this year thanks to students from Emily C. General Elementary School.

Students raised more than 400 food items for the Six Nations Community Food Bank during their annual Christmas food drive.

“The kids raised more than 400 separate food items,” said Mrs. Charles who teaches at the school and helped a lot organizing the event.

The Grade 8 class takes the lead in organizing the food drive ever year and usually brings in the most food donations, but this year the Grade 5 and Grade 6 class brought in the highest amount of donations and won themselves a pizza party.

“The kids really enjoy organizing it and trying to bring in the most items,” said Mrs. Charles.
