MISSISSAUGAS OF THE CREDIT — Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation is reporting their first confirmed positive case of COVID-19.
Chief Stacey Laforme made the announcement in a video posted to social media on Wednesday.
In a statement MCFN said the person is in quarantine and under the supervision of Public Health.
The First Nation says it will not reveal the identity of the person and says Public Health is reaching out to trace the person’s contacts.
“We want to assure you that MCFN Chief and Council are actively taking precautions and actions to address the potential impacts of COVID-19 in our community. The COVID-19 Working Group continue to meet regularly to strategize next steps and to discuss precautions to curb the spread of the virus,” said the statement.
All gas and variety stores on Mississaugas of the Credit are closed and council are running on essential staff.
