Manitoba youth arrested in murder death of Teresa Robinson

Manitoba RCMP announced they have arrested and charged a 15 year old boy in the murder death of 11 year old Teresa Robinson.

Robinson went missing from the Garden Hill First Nation in northern Manitoba last may while walking home from a birthday party.

Search parties for the child discovered her partial remains in a nearby wooded area, leading police to initially believe the child had been mauled by a bear.

RCMP launched a DNA collection campaign at Garden Hill with the cooperation of local residents. Police would not confirm if DNA evidence led to the arrest.

The accused cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police said he was arrested on Thursday.
