OPP charge three men from Tyendinaga blockade

NAPANEE,ON – Ontario Provincial Police released a statement this afternoon listing the charges laid following arrests at Tyendinaga Saturday.

Shawn Brant, 49 of Tyendinaga Territory was charged with 3 counts of Michief. Brant was released after appearing in court at Napanee today. He is scheduled back in court on April 1, 2014.

Marc Baille, 27 of Kingston was charged with Mischief over $5000, Assault with a Weapon, Weapon Dangerous and Breach of Probation. He was remanded to appear in court March 10,2014.

Matthew Doreen, 38 of Tyendinaga Territory has been charged with obstructing police and is released on a promise to appear. Doreen is also scheduled to appear in Napanee court April 1, 2014.

A fourth man, John Fox, was also arrested at the scene but was released unconditionally by police. John Fox was at the blockade in Tyendinaga supporting the demand for an inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. His daughter Cheyenne Fox died under suspicious circumstances in Toronto last year. Fox’s family believe Cheyenne’s death was not an accident, and are pressing for a further investigation and inquiry into the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada.
