The MPSS (Caledonia High School) Blue Devils Girls Field Lacrosse team took home the Championship game played in Georgetown, ON. They went undefeated taking them to the final game against Holy Cross School which the Blue Devils won 19-4.
The Devils were supported by a large number of parents, family and friends who made the trip for the day-long finals. Six of the girls on the team also play for the Team Haudenosaunee U19s, and will be travelling to Edinburg, Scotland this summer.
In other girls field lacrosse news, the Six Nations U15, U19 and Senior team are now selected and will be starting the season soon. The U19 and U15 teams are looking to repeat as Provincial Gold Medalists and the Seniors, with a stacked powerhouse of fast slick players had a very successful season last summer only to get ousted at the Provincials.
Six Nations is hosting two days full days of field lacrosse games May 30-31 at the blue track and JC Hill Field for the U11 girls.
“Its time this community sees the talented, fierce and naturally stick skilled ladies and women we have from here,” says lacrosse mom Alicia Hill. “All the super star male lacrosse players are awesome but they also have nieces, cousins, girlfriends or wives and sisters that play too, and believe me, it’s not a sissy game.”
Hill said, “Our ladies train and practice lots, up early every weekend for the games, travel 2-4hrs a weekend just to a game, the parents that convoy and make the picnic type lunches that get gobbled up between games. Oh and it’s a full night before the games just cooking and cutting food, packing up the cars and trucks with tents, chairs, blankets, coolers and bags.”
