SIX NATIONS – Friday and Saturday wins by the defending Founders Cup Champion Six Nations Rebels kept Rebels 2015 campaign unblemished as they took down the St. Catharines Spartans 8-1 Friday night and followed that with a 17-11 win in Wallaceburg over the Red Devils, Saturday afternoon.
Rebs continued to roll with their third straight win on Friday night over the St. Catharines Spartans 8-1. Briley Miller got the start in the Six Nations net and turned away all but one of the 31 St. Catharines shots he faced. Garet Vyse-Square scored two for the Rebels with Josh Miller, Mitch Green, Layne Smith, Kessler Doolittle Jerry Staats and Danton Miller adding singles. Luke Stevens accounted for the lone Spartan goal.
Saturday, Coach Derek General’s Rebels were powered by a nine-goal performance by Garret Vyse–Square with four goals and five assists. The game was close after the first 20 minutes; which ended with Wallaceburg leading 6-5. But the Rebels rebounded in the second to lead 10-8 after 40 minutes and finished the job by out scoring the Devils 7-3 in the final frame for the decisive win.
Wallace burg Devils have three more starts this week beginning with a Tuesday night visit to Niagara to take on the Thunderhawks, before hosting the Elora Mohawks at the ILA Friday night at 8 pm, and back on the road to face the Point Edward Pacers Saturday night.
