It was a very successful weekend for the Jr. C Hagersville Hawks as they posted two wins in as many games to end the regular Jr. C season in 4th place.
Sunday night, at the Talbot Arena in Simcoe, Jordy Lang opened the door for the Hawks at 15:49 of the first period. Domenic Evangelista, Michael Arch and Mitch Green built a sizable 4–0 lead before Alexander Polillo put Simcoe on the map with an unassisted goal at 10:42 of the second period.
The Storm kept blowing in Simcoe’s direction in the third period with Tyson Mike, Lamb, and Bradley Stitt recording goals to even the score at 4–4. Clayton Millard reversed the tide with what would stand up as the winning goal scored at 9:32 from Green. The insurance goal was scored by Derek Friesen, unassisted at 12:04.
Saturday night, the Niagara Riverhawks were stunned by the Hawks 6–2, in Hagersville, with Friesen scoring two goals and assisting on two more while Travis Bell earned 4 assists.
The Hawks will face the Niagara Riverhawks in round #1 of the playoffs, which start Thursday night in Niagara. Game #2 is set for Saturday Feb. 6th, in Hagersville with Game #3 played Tuesday night in Niagara.
