OHSWEKEN – The start of Saturday afternoon’s Bantam LL matchup with the visiting Port Dover Pirates Bantams was delayed after both teams hit the ice for the warmups both wearing their home, colours. The Blackhawks returned to the dressing room and returned wearing their white uniforms and the game finally began.
Six Nations won it 6-3 after an intense game at the Gaylord Powless Arena (GPA) in downtown Ohsweken. Deland Martin scored the first goal of the game unassisted before Lucus Pineo tied it with a shot that just slipped under Six Nations goalie Terry Jamieson’s pad.
Ryan Jamieson put Six Nations on top again when he brought the puck in close off the right wing. Just when he was about to shoot the puck slipped off his stick fooling the Dover goaltender who followed Jamieson while the puck coasted into the open cage to put Six Nations up 2-1.
Denis Hill scored from the point, to make it 3-1 for Six Nations and with 1:39 left in the period, assisted by no.19, Deeland Martin, who also scored both third period goals for the Blackhawks to reach the 6-3 final score.
Port Dover had its chanced late in the game after Six Nations took two but Jamieson held ground for the win.
