Brantford Warriors waxed in Wilmott

WILMOTT — A horrific start to Saturday’s Jr. C lacrosse matchup between the Brantford Warriors and the Wilmott Wild, in Wilmott, dug a 6-0 pit that Brantford couldn’t escape from, despite a valiant third period effort. In the end, the first place Wild won it 10-7, for its third win of the young season against no losses. Brantford is now sitting with one win and two losses.

The first period was hard to watch, that is, is if you’re a Brantford fan, as Wilmott went wild with six first period goals, then added two more in the second, 30 seconds apart before Connor Merritt connected for Brantford from Thomas Richards and Ryan Dorr.

Max Lewis scored a minute later to taken a two-goal slice off the Wilmott lead before the period ended with Wilmott leading 8-2.

The Brantford Warriors came out with guns blazing with Jaden Drage scoring three third period goals, and second goals of the game were scored by Dorr and Merritt. But the rally fell short as Wilmott recorded the 10-7 win. Bobby Morrison was tagged with the loss in the Brantford goal.

Last Friday, Brantford won 10-2 over Halton Hills. They will be off until Tuesday, May 15th when the travel to Fergus to face the Thistles.
