Six Nations versus Six Nations at the GPA

OHSWEKEN – There was one thing for certain in the afternoon Pee Wee hockey game at the GPA Saturday. Six Nations was going to win.

The Six Nations Pee Wee #1 team went up against their counterparts, the Six Nations Pee Wee #2 team in a head to head matchup, which was won 2-0 by the #2’s in a very evenly matched and entertaining game.

It was 0-0 after the first period of action as both Tyrell Martin in the #2’s net and #1 starter Doug Powless played well at each end of the ice.

Halfway through the second period both teams split the game between their goalies and Hailey Johnson came in for the #1’s and Dylan Martin took over in the #2’s net, but by the end of the period there was still no score.

That doesn’t mean there was no action. There was lots of it, but all four goalies kept the game locked in a 0-0 tie.

But in the third period Dallas King broke the double goose eggs with a point shot through a crowd, at 3:27 of the ten-minute period. Nick Jacobs and Dawade Powless assisted.

The Pee Wee #1’s coming on strong late in the third, they came very close to tying the game, but Dylan Martin made a great glove save on the play too preserve the lead and the shut out.

After sustained pressure by the #1’s in the final three minutes, Ryan Scott found a loose puck in the crease during a scramble and put it home with 9 seconds remaining in the game.
