Today Six Nations band members will make the journey to the Community Hall in Ohsweken and cast votes in the Six Nations General Election. What about those folks who are as of yet undecided? What about those who are not sure if they are going to head out to vote yet?

Members of the Haldimand Quilters Guild were on hand to showcase the beautiful handcrafted quilt they are donating to the West Haldimand Hospital Foundation Auction.

The “Baltimore Bliss” appliqué quilt measures 94 X 80 inches in heritage hues of blue, gold and wine colours. In the above photos from left to right are: Audrey Mitchell, Shirley Kellar, Debbie Allan, and Betty Carpenter.

Remembering an Ongwehowe Soldier – Lloyd Clifford Curley

When Tesha Emarthale’s aunt handed her a bundle of her great-grandfathers belongings, she only had a small picture of who he was. “For me prior to receiving this collection my grandfather was only a name.” she shared. “I knew his name and I knew that he served in World War I. I knew that he died young and that my grandfather didn’t get a chance to know him.”

Her Great Grandfather, Lloyd Clifford Curley, a soldier with the 107th Battalion, fell in battle during the First World War on August 15, 1917 on Hill 70 in the Battle for Vimy Ridge. His Battalion brought 600 men to that battle; 21 lost their lives and 130 were wounded.
