Residential school survivors working on the Mohawk Village Memorial Park in Brantford are seeking $150,000 for a memorial wall dedicated to all the children who attended the Mohawk Institute Residential School. Survivor Dawn Hill told council’s finance committee the project lost funding when the government cut support to the Six Nations Survivors’ Secretariat. Research shows about 100 children died while attending the school, nicknamed the Mush Hole.
