AFN Youth Summit calls for awareness to suicide

NIAGARA FALLS – The Assembly of First Nations National First Nation Youth Summit on Wellness gathered this weekend.

More than 200 First Nations youth attended the inaugural gathering.

Youth participated in a ceremonial Youth Walk of Hope, trekking more than 865 kilometres across Ontario to raise awareness on the suicide pandemic affecting First Nations youth around the country.

Participants discussed Calls to Action on Life Promotion for First Nations youth and made recommendations for the AFN and federal governments to hear.

Those recommendations will be presented to the AFN General Assembly this Tuesday.
