Two lucky people walked away with $30 grand each on the weekend after winning the jackpot during Six Nations Bingo’s 30th anniversary extravaganza on Apr. 19.
“The event was a major success, setting a post-COVID attendance record at the Bingo Hall with 659 guests attending the anniversary game,” said Katie Montour, public relations officer for Six Nations Economic Development Corporation, which runs the bingo hall. “Two $30,000 jackpots were claimed by lucky winners, one of whom was from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.”
The event, dubbed the “Double Dazzle” sent a buzz throughout the bingo world, with a lineup extended around the entrance an hour before doors opened. Natalie Renusz and Trena Stark travelled from Kincardine and Kitchener to enjoy a girl’s day playing Bingo. “Honestly, it’s pretty exciting,” said Renusz. “I think that they’ve gone through a lot of changes over the years since we first started playing, but overall, I think it’s exciting and I think it’s fun.”
Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation President and CEO Matt Jamieson was also in attendance, assisting staff with set-up. “Today is a monumental anniversary for Six Nations Bingo,” said Jamieson. “For the past 30 years, the community has been proudly hosting bingo and welcoming thousands of loyal patrons from all over the region who continue to choose Six Nations Bingo as the best place to play and win. I am tremendously proud that after all these years we continue to welcome them back to our community. I’ve heard directly from many patrons that they continue to visit us with excitement and enthusiasm largely due to our dedicated staff who go the extra mile to create a memorable experience. Bingo has a deep history at Six Nations; it brings people together while also generating much needed financial benefits to support our youth and minor sports teams. I would like to thank all of our patrons for choosing Six Nations Bingo – we look forward to continuing this tradition for the next 30 years and beyond.”
Six Nations Bingo (SNB) is a 125,000 sq. ft. gaming facility located on the Six Nations just off Chiefswood Road. Six Nations has a rich history of bingo spanning over 50 years, said Montour. Six Nations Bingo has been a regulated industry on the territory for 30 years. Six Nations Bingo as it’s known today used to operate out of the building that now houses the Gathering Place by the Grand, until a fire damaged the facility. Its current location next door was constructed in 2009 and opened in 2010.
The hall offers both electronic and paper bingo, with daily sessions and a range of prize structures to accommodate different levels of play. SNB is a division of Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the Six Nations community. Six Nations Bingo is not just about prizes, though. A portion of Six Nations Bingo’s annual profits (about 40 percent) goes to the Six Nations Gaming Commission and is then directed to local charities and initiatives, such as youth sports, elementary schools, and other community initiatives. Since 2016, SNB has contributed over $4 million through its charitable gaming program. In 2025, 116,890 players attended the Six Nations Bingo Hall.
